Great seafood, We always get their seafood platter for two that more than fills us up. IT gives us a taste of everything and more! I highly recommend for a couple or small family with kids.

Dont know what else to say. 5 stars baby...good as it gets for me. We came like homeless people, after a rain soaked first Friday of Jazzfest this year, dying for some food. Got the shrimp platter....they didnt miss a beat. Enjoyed it so much we came back when we were visiting family in Gretna a couple weeks ago. Shrimp poboy for me this time around and they passed that test with a 100%. I posted the pic on facebook and it got raving reviews on there, so I will share my joy with all you yelpers so that you do not miss out on this gift from the heavens. Take one look, one bite and then write your 5 star review.

I went to Zydeco's with a couple of friends and had 2 pounds of crawfish and gumbo. The crawfish was pretty good but paled in comparison to the delicious gumbo! We went on a weekday but it was still really crowded; fortunately our wait for a table was less than fifteen minutes. My only caveat is their restroom situation is a bit weird (only 1 stall per gender for the entire restaurant). It is a casual place and good for groups.

Great food, authentic local grub. The service is great too, which is saying a lot. Restaurants aren't known for their service in the New Orleans area. They have stuff for the kids and even my picky husband, who doesn't eat seafood. You have to try the bayou rolls and mardi gras rolls! Mmmmm.

I had to check twice to make sure I was reviewing the right place, based on the other reviews. Reading the menu, the entree noted "...bread of choice...", and asking the waitress about it, she replies 'it comes with toast." Pointing out the menu, she says, "I don't know what that means, it comes with toast." Mmmm, toast and shrimp, yummy. It also came with a salad which turned out to be lettuce with finely chopped tomatoes, and thats all. The shrimp plate also came with dirty rice. The rice was hard, dry, and clumpy, just like mom used to make, mmmm.. The shrimp was actually decent, hot, but for $13.95, that was the extent of it. Total bill - $17.50 for lettuce and chopped tomato, dry clumpy hard rice, toast, 14 shrimp and a coke. As I was staring dumbfounded at my bill, the couple who was just seated by me looked at the menu, got up and walked out. "I should have done the same thing", I thought.

We have been to Zydeco's several times over the last four years and the experience has been on a slow decline. At this point, we will not return. On our visit before the most recent one, we discovered that they had gotten rid of the (really awesome) nightly specials and replaced those with a fried buffet. There are some items that are not fried, but primarily that is the case. Not a bad idea it seemed, but the price was 28.99 and 15.95 for children. We gave it a shot and it wasn't too bad, but still we found the price rather steep. This most recent visit, we discovered the price had gone up to 29.99. Still willing to give it a chance, we got seated. We ordered our drinks and three buffets, along with one dozen chargrilled oysters, as they are not on the buffet. After we received our drinks and started on the buffet, my husband had to remind the waitress that salads were included with the buffet, which she then brought. Near the end of our first round of fried foods, half a dozen oysters arrived. Not being terribly anxious to wait another 20 minutes for the rest of the oysters, we did not say anything about it. The buffet: It would seem that most of the food had been out there for quite some time. The restaurant was not very crowded at all, so we understood why there might be some items that needed refreshing, but nearly all of the food on the buffet was rubbery and old. When the server returned and asked us how everything was, we shared that detail with her and she said a half-hearted "sorry" and said that "they can drop some more, if you want?". The reasons we declined this offer are numerous. One - twice we had to get up and ask the hostess or another server to please locate our server, as we hadn't seen her in a significant enough amount of time, so we didn't have a whole lot of faith in her expediency. Two - almost everything on the buffet needed replacing, how long would we expect that to take after we'd already been there near an hour? And three - I don't feel that the customer should be asked if they would like fresh food, it's awkward and inappropriate. We decided to go ahead and get the check, but unsurprisingly, our server was absent again. We again approached the hostess area and asked if she could please find our server. She asked who that was and we were unable to answer, as she never told us her name. Shortly, a different server came and delivered our bill. We prepared our payment and waited. And waited. Finally, our original server returned to ask if the other girl had come and gotten our check yet! We replied no, and she WALKED AWAY. We had "frequent buffet" cards from a previous visit that we did not bother to get stamped, as we will not be returning.

It's usually crowded which must be a good sign! My husband likes this place so I mainly go for him. It's not the fanciest or healthiest although I haven't really found a restaurant in Belle Chasse that is. I've only been once and it was on a Sunday for lunch. They were not crowed (like only 3 tables) and the service was pretty slow! I had a pasta dish that was very rich and an extremely large serving. I was able to take half home for lunch the next day. Definitely a place to recommend for authentic Louisiana cusine, not fine dining.

Okay, it was late and they were getting ready to close, and most of the things on the menu were unavailable. However, the fired catfish plate was one of the offerings, and it turned out to be a delicious meal with some excellent fried catfish, hush puppies, and cole slaw. Don't know what else they were serving, but the catfish is wonderful and if I get back into the area will happily return for my fill of catfish!

came here with my father who was in from out of town, i had never been there before but i have driven by it many times, well let me just say it was absolutely yummy my husband and father both ordered seafood dishes and i got a steak ( i know right a steak at a seafood restaurant ?) well it was all very very good i will definitely go back :)

My wife wanted to try new things so we went to this restaurant for dinner. Definitely a good recommend. They serve the best catfish & fries in all of New Orleans & I tried them all. The service was a plus, well mannered waiters who attended to our needs very quickly. Good deal for a plate of catfish, well worth it. I even Instagram my plate & got my friends interested. I think I just found my Teflon spot.

Having grown up in the south I equate fried food with comfort. I live in California where it isn't inextricably woven as in my heart. Zydeco filled me up with great food and did my heart good as well. The catfish was the most tender and succulent that I've had in memory. The shrimp and oysters were flash fried to perfection. The okra was crunchy and perfectly salted! Go?

The service was terrible. Just plain terrible. Judging from other reviewers, it would appear that my bad experience places me in the minority of disappointed customers. So, here goes... Showed up with nine coworkers at 12:15 on a Friday. The place was mostly empty. There were only two other tables seated anywhere near us. Now, there are three distinct gripes that I will detail below. 1. When our waitress started to take our orders, she started out by asking "Since it's Friday afternoon, can you guys make my life easier and put everything on one check?" Um, no. Call me a jerk, but I prefer my check seperated. Saves a ton of time in the end. 2. I ordered the Jambalaya and fried catfish special (which was good, not great). Our meals were delivered over the course of about 40 minutes. My lunch was the last to be delivered at 1 pm. Keep in mind we ordered at about 12:20. Sadly, the rest of the group was finished eating when my meal arrived so I did my best impression of a Hoover and inhaled lunch. 3. Our checks arrived. Since we were in a group of 9, she added an 18% gratuity (standard). However, since 2 of us opted to have our own checks (special costs $8.99), we assumed we would be seperated out of the auto-gratuity. Not the case. My $8.99 special had an automatic $5.99 gratuity added on. That's a pretty steep tip. I asked the waitress about this expecting her to be embarassed by her mistake, but was surprised when she told me that since I was with the large group, that was my cut of the 18% gratuity. Uh, negative ghostrider. I told her this was ridiculous and asked if we could just be added back into the group which she said was not possible. Defeated and in a hurry, I handed her my check and credit card. So, after all that B.S., she comes back and hands me a new ticket several minutes later without the absurdly large auto-gratuity added on. She did still add on an 18% gratuity. Probably because she figured I would stiff her on the tip (I wouldn't have despite her ruining my lunch). This was not the first time I've eaten at Zydecos, but you can bet it will be my last. I'll be going to Salvos next time.

There seem to be a lot of places around here with really good sea food in a very homey comfortable spot.

  • Maria E.

Yummy place to go!!! One of the places you need to check out before you head out. But if you go for a late lunch don't expect to have fast service. We waited 30 mins before a waitress came to take our order.

  • Sylvain B.

"Sorry but we don't have crawfish" This is what I am absolutely OK to hear from my waitress when it's not the crawfish season instead of eating frozen crawfish or crawfish that come from the other side of the planet! No crawfish? No problem. Zydeco proposes a solid choice of local dish and a lot of seafood. In a local "dinner" style, you can enjoy excellent BBQ shrimps (yes, way too salty but...great taste), fresh boiled shrimps, an excellent gumbo, and big, fat onion rings. I ain't no cajun seafood specialist, but I know when dishes are well cooked, in a simple, homey style. This place proposes simple but tasty food. I wouldn't hesitate to bring tourist friends there to try the local taste. A big plus for the blackened red fish. Firm, fresh, tasty and well seasoned. Loved it. Lovely waitress, great service!

  • Taylor T.

Bleh! I'm usually very open minded because I'm not the best cook, but this food was so bland even my 3 year old said she didn't like it. The service was decent, did have to flag her down a few times which can get quite annoying. We will be stationed here for 3 more years and will most likely not be eating here again. I wouldn't recommend it to my family or my customers unless every where is was packed.

  • Susan G.

One our favorite places to stop in for lunch or dinner whenever we are close by traveling. My favorite other than the seafood budge is the crab & crawfish pasta! The service is good, the people friendly and the prices are affordable!

  • Raul Q.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT !! We opted to order off the Menu instead of the Buffet and glad we did ! The reviews I read were mixed but I have to say I was not disappointed the Zydeco was blasting in the back while we chowed down ....this is nowhere near down town and would not be easy to find without GPS but well worth the search.

The food was great I had chicken and sausage gumbo. It did however take 1.5 hours for to eat and leave for a 6 person table.

I always take my out-of-town guests to Zydeco's for a true taste of New Orleans cajun culture! For down-the-road cajun restaurants, Zydeco's is GOOD. I am in love with their seafood pasta; I always order crawfish only. The sauce is reaaaally heavy, but that's why you've got some fancy fresh french bread to help pack down the bowl of cream-slathered-carbs. Seriously, while all that cream is pretty unhealthy, you've got to dip the french bread in it. JUST TRY IT. It's pretty darn good. For starters, try their gumbo or charbroiled oysters. I have had their gumbo several times and it is always reliable-- not too thick, not too watery, always great flavor. Their charbroiled oysters are also good, but I prefer the gumbo. On to the negatives: You may be stuck with very shitty service. Like seriously shitty. Like "I'm sorry I forgot to place your order" after 45min of waiting for a bowl of gumbo, shitty. Like putting croutons on a specially requested gluten-free salad shitty. This happened once, but it simply unacceptable. Hopefully, they will re-train some employees to have consistently good service. Until then, there's no way I'm giving Zydeco's 5 stars. That aside, I've been to Zydeco's several times and am usually very pleased with the experience-- and I still take nearly all of my out-of-town guests to Zydeco's for dinner!

I do like this place when they do it right. It's kinda like a hit or miss. Sometime everything is good and on point. And some days you are waiting for them to refill everything on the buffet line and the seasoning is off on the seafood. So it has it goods and bad days so you have to hope you go on a good day

    (3)
  • Ashley W.

I ordered the broiled oysters and catfish plate. The oysters were ok but the catfish was AMAZING! They give you a ton of it and it's delicious. I ate the left overs the next day and it was still great.

What can I say, seafood buffet with frog legs and sweet tea. Great food, service and atmosphere. Thanks for a great time.

Let me start by saying that I've had pretty decent to good experiences here but the last couple have just been terrible. A HUGE pet peeve of mine is when the soup and salad is served at the same time as the entrée. Not just a couple minutes before the entrée but rather it all comes out on the same tray. Why would a restaurant do this? Zydeco has perfected this routine. My Corn and Crawfish soup was more like a porridge. I have never seen a soup so thick. It had obviously been heated and reheated and reheated and left out for a long time prior to being served to me. I ordered the cup of soup. It was so thick, my spoon stood tall as I spun the bowl around. In addition to the unappealing texture, it just plain looked gross. My son's dinner salad was served with not one, but two large butts from the romaine lettuce. Now, I like big butts and I can not lie, but this is a small salad and it was 50% lettuce butt. Sounds funny, I know, but again.....why would anyone let this walk out of the kitchen? I ordered the shrimp poboy and it was pretty good. That's one thing they do consistently good. The fried food off of the menu is usually spot on. Service is also hit or miss. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the service was pretty good(even if she should have seen the food she was serving and questioned the kitchen) The buffet is a joke. Mediocre food for $30. The crab legs and crawfish(when they are in season) are hit or miss. Sometimes they are OK and sometimes it is just bad. As you can see, I give places a second, third, fourth chance, but I don't think I'll be back any time soon. Again, the fried food off of the menu is not a bad deal, but everything else......pass.

Food was terrific. Our server, Dana, was awesome. Her recommendations were spot on! I had oysters on the half shell to start, then soft shell crab. I will definitely be back, ask for Dana if you go, she is awesome!

I went to get take-out, jambalaya. Not many places have it around here, surprisingly. I got three sides of jambalaya and it was the smallest servings for sides I've ever seen. They charged almost $12 for it too. Very disappointing and besides that, none of the employees seemed to know much about the menu. The seafood buffet looked good, we saw it while we were waiting on our food. However, since a few small spoons of jambalaya was almost $12, would hate to know how much the buffet was. Not going back to this place again, there are too many other good restaurants in New Orleans and the surrounding areas.

Absolutely the best all you can eat seafood platter on friday night. Crab, shrimp, crawdad, corn the works . Service is great. However if you are looking for a elegant nite on the town not the place. Essentially a diner turned seafood palace on friday night.

  • Thomas H.

Horrid. We arrived at 1120 and did not get our food for almost 2 hours. I ordered "all you can eat" shrimp. When it finally came out, it was cold. I asked to see the manager and it took another 10 min for her to come over. When I'm on my deathbed I will be wishing for that 2.5 hours back.

This is a very casual spot with a warehouse/barn type construction with a large open seating plan. They offer a pretty respectable seafood buffet here which is a bit pricey but its the only one I've ever seen that has soft shell crabs on it. The seafood here has lots of fried options with some boiled choices. If you choose to order off of the menu they have a good selection of typical Louisiana seafood dishes and some chicken and beef choices along with po boys and burgers. The gumbo includes sausage so it isn't a pure seafood version like I prefer. They also have some non-local seafood like snowcrab and some unique items like their Mardi Gras rolls. The service is a bit slow sometimes but generally acceptable. This is certainly a good place to chow down on lots of good local seafood and your biggest issue will be choosing between the buffet here or the all you can eat boiled options at the nearby Salvo's.

  • Jennifer N.

If you're looking for some great tasting fried catfish, this is the place to be. The five star rating is mostly for the catfish platter that I had for take-out. The batter is crispy, flaky, and well-seasoned. The order comes with a generous portion that can easily be shared- not to mention that it is paired with one of the best tasting fries as well.

I never write reviews, however i feel compelled to voice my opinion about zydecos restaurant in Belle chasse! I even had to go to great lengths to open a google account to do so. This is my third and LAST time i will ever order from this place. The food has been questionable everytime ive ordered and today it was down right Terrible! !!! I even had to bring it back. Not to mention the horrible service. I had to wsir 30 minutes for a take out order that was offered on the Buffett...im mean really? Wth. Will never order from there again.

I took my son there yesterday, they had a $33.95 seafood buffet. The fried shrimp were only ok, but the other foods were terrible! The boiled seafood was semi spicy but otherwise tasteless. The soft-shelled crab was dry. The lettuce in the salad was not fresh. We've been to this establishment multiple times, because my son likes the crabmeat au gratin.( I think that is the best thing on the menu) The quality of the meal, is definitely not worth the price. After yesterday's meal, we will not go again. With two buffets, 1 tea, 1 water, and a tip, it cost me $90.00. The most expensive tasteless meal I've ever had.

Don't waste your time, go to Salvo's! Went here with friends last night, they said it was their favorite restaurant in New Orleans when they lived here three years ago. But when we went in it was completely different. The music was slow and boring, we were the youngest people in the restaurant, and they replaced the bar with a buffet. Now the buffet, everything on the buffet was cold even with the heat lamps, and the food had been sitting there all day, the crawfish were so overcooked they were mushy. I let a child in our party try one of my crawfish off the buffet and the server pointed at the cameras and insisted that we purchase crawfish or they would charge us for another buffet. When it came time to leave they wouldn't bring boxes for everyone until I was done eating off the buffet. I felt like a prisoner! Cameras all over me, acting like I was gonna steal their disgusting food! It was too much. I won't go back.

    (3)
  • Chad M.

I've been here 3 times now. I've only tried the buffet but let me put it like this Awesome, Awesome, and Awesome. Their seafood is super fresh! The buffet is a little pricey at just over 30 a person but where else can you get endless boiled shrimp, two types of crab legs, raw oysters, fried shrimp, fried soft shell crab, crayfish, and the list goes on and on. They do have a small wait around 30 min but it's worth it. I wish I was a local to enjoy it more often!!

  • Randa T.

Our waitress was unable to answer basic questions about the food--"is the potato salad made with mustard?"--We ordered fried mushrooms as an appetizer which was served quickly. My husband got the gumbo and I ordered the pressed sandwich. Service was very, very slow. The gumbo had no meat or seafood in it--just rice. The sandwich was good, but I probably wouldnt order it again. Fries had a lot of seasoning salt on them. I guess I just expected more since they had a good crowd.

I was a bit skeptical about zydeco's after eating at a local Cajun restaurant and being disappointed, but I have to to say Zydeco's is amazing! The seafood buffet is what we had. The food is all seasoned very well! I will definitely be coming back whenever I'm near NOLA. Hope was our server and she was friendly. She did an awesome job of keeping the table clean and our glasses full.

Definitely a SOLID place to grab lunch. Service is lightning quick and ultra-polite. The menu itself is relatively standard, but the daily lunch specials are a spectacular deal, and I highly recommend you check them out if you stop in! Recommend, will be back.

I freaking love this place! We first came here two weeks ago, and came back again today while waiting for Husband's transmission fluid to be changed next door. We always go out to eat between lunch and dinner so our 3 year old doesn't have to deal with waiting, as he's about as patient as, well, a 3 year old, so there have only been a couple of other tables seated when we've been, but whenever I drive by during peak lunch and dinner times they are always packed, and I can see why! It's fab! Here is what we have had on our visits; Fried Mushrooms - Very on point, the batter was crispy and the mushrooms perfectly tender! They were great alone, and even better with the dipping sauce it was served with! Charbroiled Oysters - OMFG! I have avoided cooked oysters for quite a while because I kept getting them overcooked and rubbery. I braved them because I've been wanting to try some and we've been stationed here shy of a year and I haven't had any yet, so I ordered 1/2 dozen (You can also get a full dozen.), and they were perfectly done, tender, still juicy, and the sauce complimented the freshness of the oyster well, the parm on top lent a little extra saltiness. Delicious, the lemon they're acoompanied with brightened them up nicely! They were good size, two of them were big ol' daddies! Shrimp Po'Boy - Holy massive, Batman! Husband was expecting to share some shrimp with our son, but he had a much larger portion than anticipated, therefore my son had quite a bit! He's really bad about actually eating when we aren't eating at home, so we usually just share with him. The portion of fries given with the po'boys is generous, as well. Aligator Sausage Po'Boy - I almost hated giving half of this to my son, it was so good, but seeing the joy he got out of the sausage made me okay with it, lol! The sausage was fatty, as all sausage was (I didn't come here for healthy, I deserve a break from the clean eating, right?), but not overly so. The casing had a nice crunch and the middle was tender and flavorful. Very delicious! Soft Shell Crab Po'Boy - Okay, can you tell we dig sandwiches in this family? All of these are huge, and I knew I wouldn't be able to eat it all, so I asked if I could get half of it with catfish, knowing my son wouldn't eat something that still had it's legs attached, which she did for me (It's $11 something for a half and half, but this way I could have what I wanted, share, and try something else at the same time!). The crab was fabulous, perfectly crunchy and just slightly fishy, I loved it! Catfish Po'Boy - Again, this was my son's half of my soft shell crab one. It was very good! Many times when I've had fried catfish it was dry, this was not, it was perfectly done, tender, moist, and thick. Fabulous! My son who, as I said, barely eats when we go out to eat, scarfed this down! Big Easy Chicken Sandwich - Good Lord, this was good! It's semi-healthy, as the chicken is grilled, and provolone is about as low in fat as part skim mozzarella, which is a plus. The chicken is thick and well seasoned and the grilled onions and mushrooms really added to the flavor! My husband decided to steal a few bites off of Little Man's catfish, so gave me the final quarter of his sandwich (As I am his garbage disposal, it would seem!), and that dissapeared quickly, although I must admit I saved the big claw from my crab as my final bite of the meal! Fries - So, they're fries, which are never the tastiest things on Earth, but theirs are tossed with a seasoning blend which really adds some oomph to a typically lackluster starchy veg. Sweet Potato Fries - I love sweet potatoes in any form, baked fried, waffles, you name it. Unless you're naming candied sweet potatoes, thats far too sweet for me. These fries were no dissapointment, just slightly salty and made me feel better about a fried, breaddy lunch (It may be fried, but it still has antioxidents!). Very yummy, love them! Gator Bite - Husband had this, I took a few large "sips", love it! Here are a few other things I enjoy. The coloring sheet they give kiddos is one, it's cute, and features a gator with "Zydeco's" underneath, a fun little memory of our meal, even though Toot makes us color it! I love the decor! It's a little swamp shacky, which is a perfect ambiance for such an establishment! Also, all of the artwork on the wall is from local artists and for sale, I love the support of local atrists! I also love the server we had today, Cherie (Pronounced Sherry)! She was lovely, very friendly, sweet and attentive without being in our face! As her other table had left before we paid (Again, we go out at odd times to avoid crowds), we had a good chit chat. I will definitely be requesting her on every trip in from here on out! Request her, and thank her for her service to our country, she is an Air Force vet, and her daughter and son in law are in the AF as well. They offer a military discount, as well, but only for the member's meal.

Good down home seafood restaurant in Belle Chasse but close to Gretna. The fried seafood and boiled crawfish are usually good, as are many of their lunch specials (red beans-Monday, and jambalaya-Friday). They also have good pressed pork po-boy similar to a cuban which I like.

I am so excited about this place. My family and I got take out from this restaurant for Mother's Day. No one had ever tried this place before, so it was sort of an experiment. We looked over the menu online and it sounded good, so we gave it a try. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. I got the catfish platter which came with fries and a side salad. Let me tell you... they give you SO MUCH catfish that I got about 2 and a half meals out of it. No kidding! It is so worth the money. The pieces are big and juicy and they don't hold back on the food at all. This is such a better deal that a place like New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood. I definitely want to go back and try their other faire. The shrimp platter and the oyster platter sound just divine. I love discovering local places like this.

Seems to be a family operation where the people have far more ambition than ability. We stopped in based on several favorable on-line reviews, but found a hokey decor that was a bit grubby, and really disorganized. Ridiculously high prices given the ambiance and food. Also, the full bar that apparently used to be here, has been replaced by a seafood-ish buffet that cost anywhere between $28.99 and $32.99 (based on staff word-of-mouth; it wasn't listed yet on the dirty, worn-out menus). All they had drink-wise was a boring collection of bottled domestic beers, and dependable old Abita Amber in a bottle.

I would have given it a 2.5 but did not like it enough to give it a 3. Don't get me wrong, we had a fairly serviceable meal here. But only because we ordered something that is not on the menu...and we really only enjoyed part of that. We stopped in on a Saturday after being wallet molested at the nursery behind it. It's a simple layout with plastic covered tables set up in really odd directions. The staff seem nice enough and our waitress was quick to bring us a menu. There is where my first problem was. The menu was disgusting and the prices were the same as French Quarter prices. Clean yo menus! We looked and looked and finally decided to risk just doing a couple of appetizers. As we waited for our waitress to come back, we saw someone get the apps we were going to order. Both guys tried them and both guys made gross-out faces. One mentioned that it was 7.50 for something the size and flavor of a freezer section taquito. So we needed to find something else to order. As we waited some more, the waitress brought a giant platter of boiled seafood to the table in front of us. I saw crab legs! We asked the waitress about that. It's not on the menu but it was about 40 bucks. We ordered one to share. This platter came with 3lbs of crawfish, a cluster of snowcrab legs, a cluster of dungeness crab and a pound of shrimp. We dug into the crab. Both sets of legs were tasty and the butter dipping sauce was spot on. Once we demolished those we moved onto the crawfish and shrimp. That's where things went back down hill. She shrimp were over-cooked and tough to peel. Not much flavor to them. The crawfish were some of the most bland, boring crawfish I'd ever eaten. Just horrible. I asked the waitress about this and she said they had a lot of older folks in who didn't like the spice. Ok..But why NO flavor at all? I swear they tasted like they had been boiled in unsalted water. Needless to say, we didn't get to finish the platter but the crab-legs were delicious. I just wish they knew how to boil the other seafood. It ended up costing us 50 bucks for 2 sets of crab legs, 4 shrimp and 3 crawfish, before tip. Not a great bargain, really. I would recommend this place to people with spice allergies and extreme crab leg lovers.

The steamed veggies were delicious! I don't think I've ever enjoyed broccoli so much that I fought over it with my boyfriend! The catfish was just as delicious, with a hint of spice. We ordered sweet potato fries instead of the regular steak fries, and they were also pretty good. The only thing that really needed improvement was the "salad" - iceberg lettuce and tomato. I mean really? No egg or cheese or croutons (I don't even like croutons, but the option would have been nice!)?! We got the food to-go this time because we work down the street, but the food was FAST and you could tell they'd just pulled it out of the deep fryer. Excellent.

Zydeco s is a family style extremely casual restaurant. last night was my first visit and I will most likely return. The atmosphere is very southeast Louisiana and in my opinion a little bit under done for the prices. There was a buffet for 30$ . We did not have the buffet as the 20$ combo seafood platter was too much in itself for me. My girlfriend had the ponchatrain pasta, a spicy creamy pasta with fried oysters and shrimp. She said it was good but a little too spicy for her liking, which means it's spicy for the average person. Overall the food is above average and everything else seemed average with prices that were a little steep.

I have passed by this place quiet a few times but never actually stopped here until this week. Usually I don't eat that much cajun food because most of the cajun places in this city are not that great. This place on the other hand was different. When I went I was greeted by a very friendly hostess. They sat me down at a table up by the front. I tried there Zydeco rolls which were fantastic (similar to a cajun egg roll). Next I had a bowl of gumbo. That is some of the best gumbo I have ever had. I wish I would have stopped here earlier. I will admit that some of the items on the menu were a little pricey, but It is worth it in my opinion. I am just glad that this place is really close to my job. In short this place is really good if you are on the Westbank and want some quality cajun food!

Good food but the buffet food was a little over done! I'd be willing to try again next time I'm in town. Recommend something from the menu!

It was just ok. For the price I expected more but not a win or a total lost. The buffet could use a bit more. Idk maybe it was a off day for the cooks cause I hear a lot of good things about this place.

Party of 5 displeased women. Three ordered the all-you-can-eat seafood, one ordered the soft-shell crab plate, one ordered the blackened chicken pasta. The appetizer and entrees came out at the same time. The appetizers were okay if not generic. The salad was pulled pieces of iceberg with tasteless tomatoes. The women who ordered the all-you-can-eat seafood could not eat the snow crab legs because they were fishy. The same comment was made about the soft-shell crab. Please do not order the pasta dishes. The chicken was minimally seasoned and the pasta tasted like what you prepare at home from Pasta Roni. Sorry, it just wasn't great food.

Yuck! Went here for lunch with my mom and couple months ago. They advertise a "buffet" but I don't consider 2 pieces of fish on a buffet during lunch rush to be adequate. The food was subpar and leaves much to be desired.

My work occasionally brings me to a test site out in Belle Chase. I'm the new guy on the team so I let the guys who have been working on this project for a while pick lunch. Apparently you're not officially part of the team until you go to Zydeco's. I honestly don't know why the team keeps coming back here, and they come here often enough to be recognized. After being seated and taking our drink orders the waitress vanished for a bit longer than I expected. We finally put in our food orders. I decided to go with something simple, the Zydeco burger. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. It wasn't as bad as if I had been alone since I had some coworkers to chat with but it took forever to get our food. When it arrived my burger was way overcooked. It was well done when I asked for medium rare. No excuse for that, really. I wasn't impressed with either the service or the food. Next time I get sent to the project site for the day I'll just pick up some Popeyes or something.

After a military move put us in Belle Chasse we were once again tasked with finding decent restaurants and local hidden gems. I thought Zydecos had mixed reviews but hubby was up for an adventure so we went. First off the reviews about the place being pricey are spot on. Buffet was $29.99 hubby had that. He reports the crawfish were good, the sausage is the cheap stuff, they are the only place we've ever seen that has soft shell crab on the buffet but it was pointless as it was dry and flavorless, they have both crab cakes and stuffed crab on the bar too and they taste exactly the same. Overall he enjoyed it. For $30 and no more than I eat I went with a bowl of crawfish and corn bisque and appetizer. The bisque was barely warm when it arrived and was nothing like a bisque, it was very very chunky. It was good though. We also had the lump crab au graten. Its super creamy and cheesy. Its very rich as well and had lots of crabmeat. Its served with a few slices of french bread that was very hard like it had been cut and left uncovered as it was neither toasted or warm there was no other explanation for the hard dry bread. Our son had the shrimp kids meal which was nicely seasoned and was more than enough for him.We would give the food about a 3 overall but our server was phenomenal so one star belongs to her :)

I went 4 times in one week while visiting family across the canal. Take out twice, solo dine in and 8 person family lunch. All rocked it. There is a great humor and care from the staff. Employee would be to harsh a word, they are working, but it comes from a place deeper than just having a job. They cared about what we ate, they cared that we came back, and they cared about each other. All that being said, they had to have great food to spend money here 4x. Crab lump meat Spinach Salad, start there and you'll know. They try more. Thanks Zydeco's it was worth checking you out.
